In the past we used to see smartphones in all shapes and forms: flip phones, rotating cameras, phones with keyboards, sliders, etc. In recent years smartphones have standardized around the smooth and simple design. However, it seems like the smartphone industry is going back to the good old days.
The hype around the foldable phones with bending screens is getting bigger and bigger, as smartphone making companies keep joining the trend and are working on their versions. The main reason for this trend is the fact that phone displays are getting larger with every launch, some even bordering on tablet dimensions, so foldable screen is turning the phone back to normal size when necessary.
The bigger companies such as Samsung and Huawei that have been working on their foldable phones for years, after so many rumors and leaks, finally launched their foldable devices too. Just a couple of days after Samsung launched Galaxy Fold, Huawei launched its foldable handset Mate X.
